How much can I spend per day until payday?

Take the money you have, subtract the bills still to go out and what you want to keep aside, then share the rest across the days left. Your numbers stay in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.

Your current account balance, or the cash you have for this pay period.
Rent, council tax, direct debits, subscriptions: anything that leaves before you’re paid.
Savings, or a buffer you don’t want to touch.

How it works

Daily budget = (money now − bills before payday − money kept aside) ÷ days until payday. The daily figure is rounded down so following it never leaves you a penny short. Payday itself isn’t counted as a spending day: you’re paid that morning.

An example

It’s the 11th and you’re paid on the 25th: 14 days. You have £850. Rent and two direct debits still to go out come to £210, and you want to keep £100 aside. That leaves £540: £38.57 a day, or about £270 a week.

Make it stick

  • Count every bill that leaves before payday, including annual ones that happen to fall this month.
  • Paid weekly, fortnightly or every 4 weeks? Use your next payday, whatever the date.
  • Check again after a big spend: the daily figure tells you how the rest of the period looks.

Do this automatically every period

Simple Budget Planner shows the same number, “left to spend”, on its first screen, with bills still to come already taken off. Write down what you spend and it stays current, shared with your partner if you like. No bank login.
